So, what exactly is engagement? No, we aren’t talking about when your significant other gets down on one knee and asks for your hand in marriage. We are talking about web engagement – the interaction of people with online channels.

Engagement comes in many forms today, through commenting to a blog post, to retweeting an interesting tweet, to connecting through a social network, to interacting to an online forum, and more.

 Are Web apps and services heading to extinction as common Web functionality becomes embedded in Mobile apps and interfaces - or - within commonly used apps, such as e-mail? Specifically, Web-based apps like Twitter have new competition in Google Buzz, which integrates micro-blogging directly into your e-mail. Another example would be the many Web-based calendar and event services. Many of these independent Web apps have their own interfaces.

Television broadcasters have enjoyed continuing streams of revenues from advertising - even increasing streams, even after these are proving less effective for advertisers. Viewership clearly is fractured, no longer just three (anyone remember?) or four television/video channels.
